    FOUNDER

For several years, I came to a closed door each time I expolored a new avenue to seek assistance for a friend who was struggling with living with a long-term disability. However, one day, the Lord placed the idea of the St. Nicholas Neighbor in Need Foundation upon our hearts while brainstorming with my co-founder, Molly. In obedience and in thanksgiving, we followed each prompting He set before us, and as we trusted in Him and His abundant grace each step of the way, the doors were opened to a way, not only to help my friend but also to help other neighbors in need in our community who are living with major physical difficulties in their lives. We were guided by the strong foundation of generosity and the spirit of giving that both of our fathers instilled in us, as well as the love of Christmas giving they both enjoyed. We knew naming the foundation after St. Nicholas, who embodies the spirit of giving, was a way the Lord wanted us to honor our fathers as we help others in our community by sharing the virtues of charity and generosity with those in need.

All glory to God in allowing Maria and I to help serve our local community through the St. Nicholas Neighbor in Need Foundation. The Lord placed the idea for the foundation promptly on our hearts, and it serves as a collective platform to make an impact and perform God's work together!  It is truly an honor to witness first hand God's grace and blessings.  We firmly trust in our heavenly Father's guidance as we grow and help extend the Lord's hand. We cherish the spirit of giving modeled for us not only by St. Nicholas and our own fathers, Bill Palmatier and Dick LaRiche, but also through the generosity of those who have helped, and will help, us in accomplishing our mission to improve the quality of life for our neighbors in need!

I was blessed to have a front-row seat as the idea for SNNIN was born in the hearts and minds of Maria and Molly, and so overjoyed to see how God blessed their efforts. It was such a joy to get to be part of surprising our first recipient with an accessible van and bathroom remodel and to see how much it improved her quality of life and that of her family! As a physician, it can feel helpless to not be able to better the home situation of someone struggling with physical disabilities, and I am grateful to be able to play some small part in bettering the lives and situations of a few. It is an honor to be able to help prayerfully direct the resources so generously sent our way and help ensure that those donations do the best for the people that God sends our way!

Seeing the amazing joy and impact the foundation could make for a single soul was overwhelming. The idea of a small community coming together in generosity to improve the lives of so many affected by medical disabilities is beautiful. You do not need a large distant organization to help others but together can make a difference in this world, one soul at a time.

I am humbled to be a part of this board. As the first recipient of the St. Nicholas Neighbor in Need foundation, I know firsthand the impact this foundation has! It has changed my life, and I am forever grateful., I enjoy looking at opportunities to be as Christ to others, just as others were and are Christ to me. Being a part of someone’s journey, someone’s struggles, being able to assure them that God is truly there and is looking out for them is quite simply humbling. It is truly an honor to be a part of this Board. I know how overwhelming and beautiful it can be on the recipient side, it’s just so beautiful on the foundation side too! … to see the surprise, the joy, the tears, the Love!
